What are the dimensions for installing the Boiler Buddy?

The Boiler Buddy is designed to fit into the position left by a standard circulating pump after a system has been upgraded to a modern integrated unit.

The length of the Boiler Buddy is 130mm and it fits between standard 1½” BSP x 22mm pump service valves. An allowance of 250mm is required to include the boiler buddy and the service valves.

The largest diameter off the Boiler Buddy is at the central clamping ring, with a diameter of 90mm. Also the central body of the Boiler Buddy is off-set by 20mm and hangs below the central axis of the feed pipe.

What are the benefits of using the TF1?

The TF1 collects corrosion, scale and installation debris, preventing them from circulating in the system, thereby maintaining system efficiency and avoiding the inconvenience of a breakdown and the cost of major repair or replacement.

What is the Total Filter TF1?

The Fernox Total Filter TF1 is a unique in-line filter which combines, hydrocyclonic action with specially designed magnet assemblies, to remove both magnetic and non-magnetic contaminants from system water and contain them safely within the filter.

Is the TF1 compatible with all chemical water treatment products?

The TF1 is not only compatible with all Fernox products, it also acts as the perfect dosing point for any Fernox ‘F’ range 500 ml, Express or Superconcentrate water treatment..

What is the efficiency of the TF1 to capture particles first pass?

97% first pass efficiency.

What makes the first pass efficiency of the TF1 better than conventional units?

The flow dynamics of the TF1 ensures that the magnetic particles are delivered closer to the magnet and therefore the magnet is required to do less work to attract and collect them.

With conventional technology, the magnet is working against the centrifugal force to pull the particles together to the centre, making the magnet work harder.

How easy is the TF1 to install?

The TF1 is simple, quick and intuitive to install. It fits in-line without any pipe modifications or adapters needed.

What pipe size does the TF1 fit?

The TF1 is available in two versions to fit 22 mm and 28 mm pipe work.

How much filtered debris will the TF1 hold?

In excess of 400g of sludge (dependant on type of sludge).

Does the TF1 adversely affect the water flow when full?

Can the TF1 be used with all makes of boiler?

The TF1 has been designed to work with any boiler or heating system.

Can a system be powerflushed with a TF1 fitted?

Yes, the TF1 valves can be used as an entry point for the Powerflow MKII. Simply isolate and remove the TF1 and powerflush across the valves. Flush Buddy is the Fernox recommended magnetic cleaning device.

Is the TF1 compatible with condensing boilers with integral pumps?

Can I secure the magnet to prevent unauthorized removal?

Yes, simply secure the magnet in place by passing the security seal through the holes on the magnet sheath and magnet cap and tighten.

Can a TF1 be fitted vertically and horizontally?

Yes, the TF1 can be fitted both vertically and horizontally.

In which water flow direction can the TF1 be installed?

The TF1 can be installed in any water flow direction in any orientation. The TF1 comes ready to install into vertical pipe work with system water flowing upward but can also be installed in horizontal pipe work flowing left to right and right to left or vertical pipe work flowing downwards.

Will the TF1’s magnetic field affect a pacemaker?

Caution needs to be exercised when handling the TF1 if the installer has a pacemaker.

How big is a TF1?

The TF1 is approximately 300 mm x 100 mm.

How long will a TF1 last?

The TF1 is a one-off purchase that is designed to last the lifetime of the heating system.

What is the strength of the magnet used in the TF1?

9,000 Gauss.

What is the temperature rating of the magnet in the TF1?

Magnetism decreases with temperature therefore the TF1 magnet has been specified to withstand much higher operating temperatures (of up to 150°C) than an average Central Heating System temperature of 80°C.

How long is the warranty period on the TF1?

Two years.

How easy is the TF1 to clean?

The TF1 can be cleaned in seconds, the magnet is simple to remove and the unit is easy to drain.

What makes the TF1 different to other filters?

The TF1 is different to other filters as it is the only one to remove both magnetic and non-magnetic particles without the need for barrier filtration technology.

How much does a TF1 help in saving fuel/energy?

The TF1 removes magnetite and sludge in a heating system reducing the risk of deposits within the heat exchanger. It is the elimination of debris blocking pipes and components that ensures the efficiency of the boiler is maintained, in turn keeping fuel bills low.

How often should a TF1 be cleaned?

Annually.

Do you need to wear protective clothing when cleaning the TF1?

TF1 has the benefit of ‘no touch’ cleaning but following good health and safety practice, Fernox recommends waterproof gloves be worn when cleaning the TF1.

What material is the TF1 made from?

A specially selected grade of glass reinforced nylon.
